- W2386106937 abstract "In this paper a new genus is established and a new species on Ulmus pumila from Tianjin, China is described and illustrated for all developing stages. The type specimens are deposited in the Department of Biology, Nankai University.Sinococcus, gen. nov. Type species: Sinococcus ulmi, sp. nov. Diagnosis: Young adult female minute, oval in shape. Antennae 9 segmented. Eyes present. Legs normally developed, tarsus longer than tibia and claw with a weak denticle. Hind tibia wider than fore and mid tibia. Ostioles absont. Five or six circuli present. Quinquelocular pores present on venter, mostly near spiracles. Tubular ducts short, distributed on dorsum with trilocular pores and spines. Anal ring with some pores and 6 hairs. First instar nymph elongate. Antennae 6 segmented. Eyes protrude. Tibia shorter than tarsus. Ostioles, circulus and tubular duct absent. Trilocular pores and spines presented on dorsum. Quinqueloculr pores distributed on venter. Host plant: Ulmus pumila L. Distribution: China: Tianjin. This new genus is allied to genera Polystomophora Borchsenius, 1948 and Ritsemia Lichtenstein, 1879, but differs from the former in dorsum with spines and absence of ostioles, and differs from the latter in presence of tubular ducts and dorsum with spines. The new genus also closes to genera Lusitanococcus Go′mez Menor Ortega, 1954 and Cucullcoccus Ferris, 1941, but can be easily distinguished by anal ring without pores and head with conical prolongation anteriorly in the last two genera. Etymology: “Sino ”means China and “ occus”means scale insect. Sinococcus ulmi, sp. nov. (Figs.1~7) Young female adult (Fig.1) pink in colour, oval in shape in living condition, 0.8 mm~1.04 mm in length and 0.5 mm~0.7 mm in width on slide. Antennae 9 segmented. Eyes present. Legs normally developed, tarsus longer than tibia and claw with a weak denticle. Hind tibia 1.6 times as wids as fore and mid tibia. Ostioles absent. Five or six circuli present. Quinquelocular pores present on venter, mostly near spiracles. Tubular ducts short, 4 μm in length and 5.6 μm in diameter, distributed on dorsum with trilocular pores ans spines. Old adult female bigger than young female, 1.4 mm~1.75 mm long and 1.04 mm~1.36 mm wide, Cuticle of head and thorax sclerotized. Male adult (Fig.2) elongate in shape, reddish brown in colour, 1.4 mm~1.75 mm in length and 1.04 mm~1.36 mm in thorax width. Anterior wing typically developed, with 2 weak veins, haltere with a hook hair. A pair of white wax threads presents on body’s tail. First instar nymph (Fig.3) 0.48 mm long and 0.22 mm wide. Antennae 6 segmented. Eyes protrude. Tibia shorter than tarsus. Ostioles, circulus and tubular duct absent. Trilocular pores and spines presented on dorsum. Quinqueloculr pores distributed on venter. Second instar female nymph (Fig.4) oval, 0.66 mm~0.68 mm long and 0.39 mm~0.42 mm wide. Antennae 7 segmented. Hind tibia 1.5 times wider than fore and middle ones. Ostioles and tubular ducts absent. One circulus presents. Spines, trilocular, and quinqueloculr pores present as in first instar, but more in number. Second instar male nymph (Fig.5) elongate, 0.61 mm~0.72 mm long, 0.32 mm~0.40 mm wide. Antennae with 7 segments. Hind tibia almost as wide as fore and middle ones. Ostioles absent. One circulus present on sternite 3 of abdomen. Tubular ducts of 2 sizes, the large one 7 μm in length, 3 μm in width, distributed on dorsum with spines and trilocular pores; the small one 6.2 μm in length, 2.1 μm in width present on venter with quinquelocular pores. Prepupa (Fig.6) 0.84 mm~0.87 mm long and 0.41 mm~0.45 mm wide. Mouthparts reduced. Anterior wing buds appeared. Tubular ducts and disk pores presented. Pupa (Fig.7) 0.76 mm~0.80 mm long and 0.30 mm~0.35 mm wide. Mouthparts absent. Anterior wing buds developed and posterior ones appeared. Disk pores presented, but decrease in number. Tubular ducts absent. Each of abdominal segments 5~8 with a spine like process on its posterior lateral margin. Biology: female adults parasite in the c" @default.
