- W2386767852 abstract "The GPS radio occultation technique used to monitor the Earth atmosphere has been transplanted from the remote sensing application in planetary atmospheric limb sounding. Since the end of 1980's, this technique has been widely used in meteorological research. The launch of the first experimental LEO statellite Microlab in 1995 opened a new era of GPS meteorology, and its experimental data and achievements have justified its potential scientific role in the Earth atmospheric profiles. Moreover, the long sequential data from ground grazing points will definitely benefit the meteorological research applications of LEO satellites. An idea of using a commensurate LEO satellite to control grazing points on the Earth surface is proposed in this paper. Simultaneous computations have shown that in the period of about 60～200 days or still longer the drifts of grazing points on Earth surface might be controlled in less than 100 km." @default.
