- W2386828655 abstract "This paper is an additional presentation of geological data obtained manyyears ago within the confine of eastern central part of Dzungaria basin [10](which is situated north of Tianshan, Sinkiang). During the last two yearsthe geological material has been restudied. As a result, more details and someamplifications are added on the stratigraphy, structural geology and geo-morphology. Especially noticeable is the modification concerning the detail oftwo geological sections differing from those published in haste in April, 1948. Atabulation of lower Permian marine fossils studied by Tsun-yi Yang and T. H.Yin, one reference list of O. S. Vialov and two lists of Jurassic fossil plantsstudied by H. C. Sze are added to the chapter on stratigraphy. The single thick coal seam of Jurassic age occurring at Mei Yao in the basinhas been a geological news as well as economic assets. It proves the nature ofstability of Dzungaria platform. Its extension needs further exploration. The dinosaurian which the author excavated at Kerish in Borten Gobi wasdetermined by C. C. Young, in 1937, as: Tianshansaurus chitaiensis Young gen. nov. et sp. nov. Its stratigraphic position is debatable. For C. C. Young regards it as of lowerCretaceous age, while the author basing upon field evidence puts it to the upperJurassic. The brown coarse clayey sandstone in which Tianshansaurus is embeddedlies conformably on the closeby plant-bearing Jurassic gray shales and areoverlain by a thin basalt flow. The pinkish sandstone at Chishinshan typical ofCretaceous age lies disconformably on the said basalt. The conclusion reachedby Ya. V. Yarmolenko (Я. В. Ярмоленко) on this problem is reconciliatory as heregards the fossil wood, collected there on the same horizon by O. S. Vialov (О. С.Вялов), a cupressionoxylon, to be either upper Jurassic or lower Cretaceous. The chapter on quaternary geology and geomorphology is a new addition. Thenorthern half of Dzungaria is dominated by wind deflation and presents a desertlandscape of bare rock outcrops. However in the southern half quaternary depo-sits and relics of lakes are still abundant, and are correlated in the table on p.129." @default.
