- W2387283711 abstract "Objective To study the efficacy of mupirocin in treatment of abdominal wound infection.Methods Forty two patients with abdominal wound infection after surgery treated in the Department of General Surgery during January 2009 to January 2010 were randomly allocated into trial group and control group.The wounds in patients of trial group were treated with conventional smearing of mupirocin ointment and vaseline sand covering the wound surface after debridement,and the wounds of patients in control group were treated by conventional debridement and iodoform packing sand.Results In patients of control group,the duration of treatment for wound infection was 9～16 d with an average of(10.2±3.7)d and the healing time was 23～29 d with an average of(25.3±2.7) d.In patients of trial group,the duration of treatment for wound infection was 5～8 d with an average of(4.7±2.6)d,and the healing time was 10 to 16 days with an average of(12.4±2.1)d.The difference in average treatment duration of postoperative infection and average healing time between these two groups was significant(P0.01).Conclusion Mupirocin in treatment of postoperative wound infection is safe and effective,it can significantly shorten the duration of treatment and it is worthy to be recommended for clinical application." @default.
