- W2387302210 abstract "Background: KIR2DL1 and KIR2DL3 are members of inhibitory killer cell immunoglobulin-like receptor family, which play important roles in some immune-associated diseases. However, there are only few studies on KIR2DL1 and KIR2DL3 expressions in inflammatory bowel disease(IBD).Aims: To investigate the expressions and clinical significances of KIR2DL1 and KIR2DL3 in peripheral blood and intestinal tissue in patients with IBD.Methods: One hundred and eleven patients with ulcerative colitis(UC),101 Crohn's disease(CD) and 110 healthy volunteers were enrolled.Polymerase chain reaction-sequence specific primer(PCR-SSP) was used to determine the expressions of KIR2DL1 and KIR2DL3 in peripheral blood, and their relationships with clinical characteristics were analyzed.Protein expression of KIR2DL1 in intestinal tissue was determined by immunohistochemical staining. Results: Compared with normal controls, phenotypic frequencies of KIR2DL1 and KIR2DL3 in UC patients were significantly decreased(P0.05);phenotypic frequency of KIR2DL1 was significantly decreased(P=0.026),while no significant difference was found in phenotypic frequency of KIR2DL3 in CD patients(P0.05).Phenotypic frequencies of KIR2DL1 and KIR2DL3 were not related with disease activity, severity of disease and site of lesions in UC and CD patients.Protein expression of KIR2DL1 in intestinal tissue in IBD patients was significantly lower than that in controls(P0.001).Conclusions: Gene and protein expressions of KIR2DL1 are low in IBD patients, which suggest that KIR2DL1 may play an important role in the immunopathogenesis of IBD." @default.
