- W2387447859 abstract "The arteries which supply the corpus striatum, thalamus and internal capsule werestudied on 40 Chinese brains by dissection under stereoscopic microscope, angiography, in-jection with albumin-vermilion followed by clearing and corrosion method in order to ob-serve their points of origin, positions of perforation and intracerebral courses. The fol-lowing results were obtained. 1. Perforating arteries which arose from the anterior cerebral artery could be dividedinto 2 groups. Those, which arose near the level of the anterior communicating artery, usually one in number, consisted of 90.00±3.66% of the cases; and those, which arosefrom the proximal portion of the anterior cerebral artery, usually two in number, consistedof 83.75±4.02% of the cases. 2. Perforating arteries of the middle cerebral artery consisted of a medial and alateral group. The lateral perforating arteries, 1--4 in number, passed over the superficialportion of the putamen spreading out like a fan. The medial perforating arteries wereonly 1--2 in number. Both groups pierced the lenticular nuclleus and the internal cap-sule, supplying the body of the caudate nucleus. 3. The striato-capsular arteries arose from the anterior choroidal artery (97.50±1.75%) and only very small part of them arose from the internal carotid artery. 4. The tubero-thalamic artery: 95.00±2.44% of the cases studied, originated fromthe posterior communicating artery; 2.50±1.76% from the internal carotid artery;1.25±1.26% from the anterior choroidal artery and 1.25±1.26% from the anteriorcerebral artery. 5. The posterior cerebral artery gave off thalamoperforating arteries, thalamogeni-culate arteries and the medial and lateral posterior choroidal arteries. The origin, position of perforation and the intracerebal course of all arteries men-tioned above were studied and diagramed. 6. All of the arteries supplying corpus striatum, thalamus and internal capsule ofboth sides seemed to be arranged in the form of a balloon with larger lateral walls." @default.
