- W2387785609 abstract "As the largest freshwater lake in North China,Baiyang Lake plays a significant role in protecting the environmental security of the whole basin and major cities.Terra around the lake is mainly made up of bog soil with nutrition, and is a proper habitat for reed(Phragmites australis),which distributes widely and controls main ecological processes in Baiyang Lake.At present soil physic-chemical and biological characteristics in its reed terra has not been known completely. In this paper, three typical sites(Yuanyangdao,Beitian- zhuang and Quantoucun)were selected in reed terra of Baiyang Lake on April 22,June 23,August 31 and October 31,2009.In each sampling site,3 quadrats were set randomly, and soil samples were collected from three different sections(0-10 cm,10-30 cm and 30-60 cm).The soil physic-chemical factors(water content, organic matter content, total nitrogen and total phosphorus contents)and activities of four kinds of soil enzymes were measured in situ and in lab and their correlations were analyzed in order to understand soil characteristics in reed terra of Baiyang Lake. The results showed that soil water content increased with depth and reached maximum in August. On the contrary, soil organic matter content decreased and all of that in topsoil (0-10cm)was great than 70 g/kg.Total nitrogen and total phosphorus contents decreased with soil depth and those in topsoil were between 2.04-3.41 g/kg and 0.71-1.14 g/kg,respectively.Activities of four soil enzymes decreased significantly with depth. In three soil sections, invertase activity, alkaline phosphatase activity, dehydrogenase activity and fluorescein diacetate(FDA)hydrolase activity were 0.53-28.56 mg/g,0.44-2.36 mg/g, 1.62-12.18 mg/g and 8.07-172.65μg/g,respectively,and those in topsoil were greater than in deeper soils. The activities of four soil enzymes were significantly negatively correlated with soil water content(p0.01), significantly positively with contents of total nitrogen, total phosphorus and organic matter(p0.01).The results above indicated that soil water content was a key factor restraining the activities of four kinds of soil enzymes. Moreover, carbon, nitrogen, phosphorus of soil had a great influence on activities of four kinds of soil enzymes.Soil enzyme activity could characterize soil fertility and quality according to correlation with the contents of organic matter, total nitrogen and total phosphorus. Therefore, soil enzyme activity could be an important indicator in assessing soil fertility in reed terra of Baiyang Lake." @default.
