- W2388896763 abstract "In a rail transport network stations are denoted by nodes.Two nodes are said to be connected by a link if there exists at least one train which passes both the two corresponding stations at the same direction.The weight of the link is defined as the number of such trains per unit time.The analysis,which is based on the empirical data,on the topological structure of Chinese rail network shows that the network displays scale-free and small-world properties(i.e.,short average path length and high degree of clustering),and furthermore,its degree distribution follows the power law P(k)~k-1.10.We also find the degree correlation coefficient is positive and given by 0.244.In such a network the nodes with higher degrees preferentially attach to the neighboring nodes which also have higher degrees,showing the network preferential attachment.Using a random walk model based on the properties of Chinese rail network,we study the volume of passenger traffic in Chinese rail transport system.The numerical simulations show that the passenger flow volume of a station is proportional to the weight of the corresponding node,while its relation to the degree of the node is nonlinear." @default.
