- W2389306073 abstract "Objective To investigate the correlation between plasma homocysteine(Hcy)and coronary atherosclerosis,and to explore its pathogenisis mechanism.Methods The plasma levels of Hcy,vitamin B 12 ,folic acid,endothelin(ET)and serum nitric oxide(NO)were determined in 98 patients with documented coronary artery disease(CHD) and 67 controls without CHD.Gensini coronary scoring system was used to calculate coronary artery score in patients with CHD.Results (1)Plasma Hcy level was negatively related to plasma vitamin B 12 and folic acid (r=-0.407 and r=-0.338 respectively,P0.01);(2)Plasma Hcy levels in patients with CHD were higher than those in control group[(14.12±4.78)μmol/L and (9.62±2.45)μmol/L,P0.01],and there was a significantly higher incidence of hyperhomocysteinemia(14.66μmol/L)in patients with CHD than that in control group(37% and 3.5%,P0.01).A markedly positive correlation between plasma Hcy level and the number of lesion artery was observed(r=0.411,P0.01).According to multiple stepwise logistic regresion analysis,the relative ratio of Hcy to CHD was 1.28(95%CI.1.12~1.47,P0.01).(3)Plasma Hcy level was negatively related to serum NO,and positively related to plasma ET(r=0.422 and r=-0.365,respectively,P0.01).Endothelium-dependent vasodilation was impaired in the patients with hyperhomocysteinemia,compared with human without hyperhomocysteinemia[(8.86±4.33)% and (15.72±5.28)%,P0.01].Conclusion Vitamin B 12 and folic acid may influence plasma Hcy.Hyperhomocysteinemia is an risk factor for the occurrence of CHD,and its pathogenesis may be that hyperhomocysteinemia leads to the injury and dysfunction of vessel endothelium." @default.
