- W2389348521 abstract "Objective To investigate the association of the C677T single nucleotide polymorphism of N~(5,10)-methylene tetrahydrofolate reductase(MTHFR)with Essential hypertension(EH)in china. Methods The study was performed in 252 essential hypertensive(EH)in two provincial hospital and 195 normal tensive(NT),and then DNA was extracted from their peripheral blood.The C677T point mutation of MTHFR gene polymorphism was detected by polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymor- phism(PCR-RFLP).Results The constituent ratio of MTHFR CC,CT and TTgenotype between essential hypertension and normal tensive was different(X~2=12. 731,P0. 005).T allele in patients with EH was higher than that of control(X~2=13. 456,P0.005).Partitions of X~2 method showed that the constituent ratio of CT+TT genotype in patients with EH was higher than that of control(X~2=11. 367,P0.005),and lo- gistic regression indicated that the odds ratio of the CT/TT genotypes for hypertension was 1.964(odd ratio =1.964,95% confidence interval:1.302～2.961,P=0.001)over the CC genotype after adjustiong for age,gender,fasting plasma glucose(Glu),creatinine(Cr),blood urea nitrogen(BUN),body mass index (BMI)and the serum levels of uric acid.Conclusions CT/TT genotype of MTHFR C677T may be a Risk factor for EH in south china hospital." @default.
