- W2389594315 abstract "Objective To explore the possible mechanisms of ET 1 in secondly spinal cord injury (SCI) by measuring the changes of ET 1 and observing the effect of endothelin receptor antagonist PD142893 on spinal cord blood flow (SCBF) after SCI of rats.?Methods The thoracic spinal cord of rats was compressed by a load of 35g for 5 minutes, which caused moderate injury. Changes of ET 1 in plasma and injured spinal cord tissues were examined by means of radioimmunoassay. The effect of intrathecal administration of PD142893 on SCBF was measured by way of Laser Doppler flowmetry.?Results ET 1 concentrations in plasma and injured tissues increasd significantly at 30 minutes after spinal cord compression and reached its climax at 4 hours, then it decreased slowly to normal level in 72 hours. PD142893 can significantly increase SCBF at compression sites on early phase (30min～8h) after SCI by intrathecal injection.?Conclusion ET 1 could contribute to the pathophysiological actions of secondary SCI. ET 1 may play a key role in secondary injury at 4 24 hours after acute SCI." @default.
