- W2389620795 abstract "Objective To control the increasing cesarean section rate, and to explore reasonability of the operation indication of cesarean section,so as to improve the quality of survival of mother and the infant. Methods 337pregnant women who underwent cesarean section in our hospital from Jan.1999 to dec.2004 were analyzed retrospectively. Results During the 6-year period,337of 2 489 pregnant women underwent cesarean section and the total operation rate was 13.54%.Since 2001,in the cesarean section rate, there was an increasing tendency: that in latter 4 years was significantly higher than that in the first two years(χ~2=23.42,P0.01).The highest operation rate was18%,and the average cesarean section rate in the 6-year period was14%.The first three operation indications were cephalic presentation malrotation, fetal intrauterine distress and abnormal fetal position or macrosomia in order. For each year, the order of first three operation indications varied, mainly including those mentioned above and the rank of premature rupture of fetal membranes, oligoamnios, antepartum hemorrhage,pregnancy-induced hypertension. The pre-operation indications for 273/337 cesarean sections were proved reasonable(25 cases with cephalic presentation malrotation,28 cases with fetal intrauterine distress, and 11 cases with other indications such as social factor, simple umbilical cord around neck, premature rupture of fetal membranes). Conclusion The cesarean section rate in our hospital is lower than that of national average level and the operation indications of cesarean section are reasonable, which reduce the maternal and infantile injuries and difficulty in labor. The obstetric quality should be raised further." @default.
