- W2390697261 abstract "Irrigated agriculture is very common around the world. However, unbalanced crop productions often cause losses of ecological service value in surrounding wetlands.Nowadays,non-point pollution contributes largely to deterioration of water quality of wetlands and lakes in agriculture regions.Previous studies on non-point pollution mostly focused on effects of pollution, and protection of wetlands was less emphasized. In this study,an integrated model for crop production and wetland protection(IMCPWP)was constructed to simulate the variation of agro-wetland ecosystem value in Irrigated District and Wuliangsu Lake in Inner Mongolia. Results showed that the model could well simulate the variations of values of agriculture and wetland products from 1992~2002.Based on sensitivity analysis, the system value had a positive relationship with the amount of inflow water from Yellow river to Irrigated District, and an inverse relationship with irrigation quota.Water scarcity is becoming an increasing constraint to both agricultural production and wetland protection.Given that keeping irrigation quota at the same level as 2002,water used from Yellow River in irrigated District would decrease by 40×10~8m~3,and the system value would decrease to 18.70×10~8m~3.For Wuliangsu Lake, the amount of inflow water would decrease by 3.38×10~8m~3,even less than the annual evaporation of 3.45×10~8m~3.Water supplement should be carried out for keeping the wetland healthy. From previous study, the irrigation quota in irrigated District could reduce by 40% with increased efficiency of water use.Model analysis show when irrigation quotas reduce by 60%,the system value would increase by 70%.According to data in 2002,when maximum amount of N fertilizer applied per hectare reached 252.3 kg and the system value declined to 24.40×10~8 RMB Yuan. Therefore, reducing the amount of N fertilizers application would be conducive to increase the value of the system. In addition, excessive application of N fertilizers would lead to severe pollution of wetlands. It is predicted that the N concentration in lake water would increase by 18% compared to 2002.In this study, wetland value just referred to service value of wetland product. It is concluded that decreasing the irrigation quota and N fertilizer application are effective measures for both agro-management of irrigated district and protection of Wuliangsu Lake." @default.
