- W2390740544 abstract "Aim:The results of conservative treatments of lumbar disk protrusions on 40 patients were reported in this article and the indications for conservative treatments were determineds.Methods:31 male patients and 9 female patients with the average age of 36.2 years old were treated with conservative methods. They all had the symptoms of back pain and typical sciatica for about 1～8 weeks.CT scans showed L 4/L 5 herniations in 27 patients and L 5/S 1 herniations in 13 patients.18 herniations were paramedian,including large block herniations in 12 patients,22 herniations were lateral. All the disks involved were protruded.Only one patient was with the ipsilateral recess stenosis.The treatments included 3 weeks bed rest for all the patients and pelvic traction was taken on 31 patients.20% mannitol 250ml and methyprednisolone 10mg were administrated VD twice a day for 7 days consecutively.Results:The symptoms subsided after the conservative treatments on all the patients.After an average following up time of 40 months,37 patients were cured.Conclusions:Lumbar disk protrusions without ipsilateral recess stenosis could be cured by conservative treatment within the initial time of two months after occurrence of symptoms and gained good results." @default.
