- W2392508192 abstract "Objective To study the therapeutic methods, indications, clinical value and attentive items of the autologous pericardial patch cavoplasty (APPC) or reconstruction of the inferior vena cava (RIVC). Methods From May 1986 to June 1998, we performed APPC for inferior vena cava and major hepatic vein stenosis in 39 patients and vasotransplantation of the inferior vena cava by autologous pericardial canal for inferior vena caval occlusion or defect in 3. All these patients underwent radical operation through right thoracic cavotomy under direct vision at room temperature and blockage of blood flow or shunt of inferior vena cava by balloon catheter and APPC. Meanwhile, obstructive foci were removed. Results Early postoperative death occurred in 2 patients (4.76%). The other 40 patients (95.24%) were cured and in good condition within the follow up period for 13～96 months. Typical symptoms and signs disappeared in 37 patients. B mode ultrasonography and cavography showed a good patency of the inferior vena cava and hepatic vein in these 37 patients after RIVC. For other 3 patients, inferior vena vaval stenosis was found in only 1 in the 18th postoperative month and thrombogenesis of the inferior vena cava in the other 2. Conclusions RIVC is the best approach for treatment of inferior vena caval and hepatic vein stenosis or occlusion. It can result in rapid recovery of the patients from illness and improvement of their life quality." @default.
