- W2393024172 abstract "Objective To observe the innervation in the symptomatic medial plica, demonstrating the regularity of innervation. Methods The study focused on the neurotomia of plica by using neuron-immunology.Medial plicae were obtained by knee arthroscopy from May 2007 to November 2008.20 patients who were diagnosed as medial plica syndrome and 11 patients with symptomless medial plica were involved in this study.Indirect immunohistological techniques were employed for the semiquantitative analysis of protein gene product 9.5(PGP 9.5) and substance P(SP),in order to observe the regularity of the innervation in medial plicae. The density of innervation between the free edge and basilar part of medial plica was compared by analysis of variance and paired t-test;and the density of innervation between the experimental group and the negative control group was analyzed by t-test.Results(1)There are three type of nerve fiber in medial plicae:free fiber、perivascular neural network around the blood vassel、nerve fiber bundle.(2)The density of nerve fiber in experimental group stained by PGP 9.5 in the basilar part was(334.39±115.68),and in the free edge area it was(190.17±91.66);the density of nerve fiber stained by SP in the basilar part was(282.95±126.10),and in the free edge area it was(153.63±100.73).The density of nerve fiber in negative control group was(37.65±22.91)(PGP9.5),(23.23±18.41)(SP).It was confirmed that the density of nerve fiber of the basilar part was higher than that of the free edge area(P0.01),and the density of nerve fiber in experimental group was higher than that in negative control group. Conclusions The nerve elements do exist in the medial plica.Innervation of symptomatic medial plica increases, which is higher than that in the free edge. The substance P-positive nerve fibers which have deep relationship with pain, increase in the basilar part of medial pliacae. The patellofemoral pain keeps consistency with the neuropathology findings in the basilar part of symptomatic medial plica." @default.
