- W2393136208 abstract "Objective To observe the recurrent febrile seizures(FS)influence on adrenocorticotropic hormone(ATCH)and glucose-regulated proein 78(Grp78)and explore the association between recurrent FS and endoplasmic reticulum stress in the brain of developing rats. Methods Forty specefic pathogen free(SPF)Sprague-Dawley rats aged 21 days were randomly divided into control group(immersed in 37.0 ℃ water,n=12)and hyperthermia treated group(immersed in 44.8 ℃ water,n=28),which was subdivided into hyperthermia group(n=12)and recurrent FS group(n=16)according to whether seizures occurred or not.Seizures were induced 10 times in a bath of warm water, once every 2 days. The plasma content of ACTH was detected by radioimmunoassay. The protein level of Grp78 was examined by immunohistochemistry staining and Western blot. Results After recurrent FS,the plasma content of ACTH increased significantly in FS group compared with control group(Pa 0.01).The immunohistochemistry results showed that the Grp78 staining located in cytoplasm, the color of Grp78 was yellow brown in control group but dark brown in FS group.Western blotting indicated that the expression of Grp78 in cortex and hippocampal were obviously upregulated in FS group compared with those in control group and hyperthermia group(Pa0.01).Conclusion Recurrent FS can activate hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenocortical axis(HPA)and increase the expression of Grp78,which demonstrated the endoplasmic reticulum stress is activated." @default.
