- W2394139968 abstract "Objective To evaluate the clinical application of fractionated 3-dimensional stereotatic radiotherapy in the treatment of patients with locally recurrent nasopharyngeal carcinoma(NPC).Methods From July 1997 to December 2000,23 patients with locally recurrent nasopharyngeal carcinoma were treated with fractionated 3-dimensional stereotactic radiotherapy using 6MV X-rays.The irradiation was performed at one to three centers on the 80% isodose curves normalized to the isocenter.The total dose was 24～64 Gy(median dose:52.5 Gy) with a fraction dose of 4～8 Gy(median dose 6.4 Gy).Results The overall rate of survival was 78.3% at 1 year,69.6% at 2 year.39.1% of the patients were died during the follow-up period due to local recurrence(1 case),distant metastases(5 cases),and fatal nasopharyngeal hemorrhage(3 cases).Conclusion Fractionated 3-dimensional stereotactic radiotherapy is safe and effective in the treatment of patients with recurrent nasopharyngreal carcinoma at the primary site,but the fraction and total doses require further investigation." @default.
