- W2394270097 abstract "As a powerful spatio-temporal analysis tool, spatial information technology( SIT) had great advantages in monitoring and assessing fishery resources and ecological environment, and it can further enhance the sustainable fishery management. The paper summarized the applications of SIT in fishery monitoring and assessment in the following aspects:( 1) sampling and monitoring of fishery resources;( 2) establishment of fishery meta-database;( 2) analysis of fishery ecological pattern, process and mechanism, including spatio-temporal pattern modeling for fishery species, assessing effects of environmental variations on fishery resources, identifying ecological hotspots( spawning grounds and migration corridor),mapping the essential fishery habitat and predicing fishery stock;( 3) sustainable fishery management, including establishing marine protected areas( MPAs) and conducting ecosystem-based fishery management( EBFM). Although the advantages have been well known,SIT in fisheries still faces great challenges, such as the effective data sampling, adjustment and reconstruction of database, and the availability of massive multisource data. In the future, more holistic ecosystem methods based on SIT will be applied in monitoring and assessment for fishery resources." @default.
