- W2395356571 abstract "The number of E-learning programs implemented in a corporate setting has increased dramatically over the last few years and E-learning has become a major form of training and development within organizations. Despite the vast effort and resources invested in and the high expectations of E-learning in U.S. organizations, there is little evidence to support organizations' naive assumption that E-learning is effective. The literature indicates that less than 15% of what people learn from training has been transferred to their job to enhance performance. Accordingly, this study intends to investigate the effect of factors associated with E-learning, particularly attitudes toward computers and usability, on transfer of training in E-learning settings. The target population of this study was employees who have taken E-learning courses within a selected company and the sample was 47 learners who took either one soft skill E-learning course or one hard skill E-learning course in the company and their supervisors. One existing measure for attitudes toward computers, one modified measure for perceived usability, and two created measure for transfer of training were used to collect information. Paired t-test, correlation analysis, multiple regression analysis, and descriptive statistics were the main methods used for analyzing the data. Overall, the results from this study support the assumptions made for this study: learners' computer attitudes impacts their perception of the usability of the E-learning courses and this perception influences their degree of transfer of training. However, the results do not support the direct relationship between computer attitudes and transfer of training in E-learning settings. The results imply that when learners come to an E-learning class with more positive attitudes toward computers, they feel the E-learning course system to be more satisfactory, efficient, and learnable, and accordingly they can better transfer what they have learned from the course to the job performance. Consequently, this study suggests that pre-training intervention may be suggested for people who are not familiar with and are hesitant of using computers in E-learning settings and also E-learning courses need to be developed by following usability heuristics in order to enhance learners' transfer of training in E-learning settings." @default.
