- W2410050384 abstract "The Swedish sterilization law of 1941 allows female sterilization on 3 indications: eugenic social and medical. Men are allowed to undergo sterilization under the eugenic and social indications. 1% of applications for sterilization come from men and 2/3 of these are approved. In the 96 cases of male sterilization which were applied for between 1969-1972 there were 4 types of reasons for seeking sterilization: the wifes inability to undergo sterilization because of illness weakness or fear of the operation and the desire of the man not to bring any more children into the world. It is much more difficult for men to get sterilization than for women. The condition of health of many women who undergo sterilization is not favorable for the surgery. In a stable family situation the couple should be able to decide which one will undergo sterilization." @default.
