Una de estas regiones, la ultramafica altiplanicie de Cajalbana, fue prospectada para documentar la incidencia de plantas invasoras, asi como los ecosistemas y especies mas afectados por ellas. Fueron registradas 32 especies vegetales exoticas, 26 reconocidas como invasoras y 6 como potencialmente invasoras en Cuba. Hyparrhenia rufa emergio como la mas nociva en el area, seguida por Syzygium jambos. H. rufa fue localizada en fragmentos hacia el interior y a variada altitud, formando pastizales que 20 anos atras eran ocupados por bosques de Pinus caribea bajo regimen de explotacion forestal. Esta especie emergio como altamente transformadora en el area y constituye una considerable amenaza para la regeneracion del ecosistema de pinar luego de disturbios de huracan o fuego, y para plantas endemicas y amenazadas, por lo que es necesario elaborar e implementar acciones para su control. S. jambos se encontro afectando el bosque de galeria, mayormente en el rio Tortuga. Ademas se debe monitorear el avance de las invasoras de mayor rango de distribucion dentro de la altiplanicie Oeceoclades maculata y Nephrolepis hirsutula, aun cuando no sea evidente su efecto nocivo sobre la biodiversidad nativa. Asimismo, los arroyos y vaguadas de escorrentia, caminos y las areas abiertas creadas por la extraccion en la meseta, que constituyen las principales vias de dispersion dentro del area. Palabras clave: Plantas invasoras, serpentina, Hyparrhenia rufa, Syzygium jambos, Oeceoclades maculata, Nephrolepis hirsutula ABSTRACT Biological invasions, considered as one of the main global causes of biodiversity loss, have not been documented in most of highest biodiversity regions with priority to conservation in Cuba. One of these regions, ultramaphic tableland of Cajalbana, was explored to document invasive plant incidence and most affected ecosystems and species. Thirty-two alien species were recorded to Cajalbana tableland, 26 of them classified as invasive species and six as potentially invasive in Cuba. Hyparrhenia rufa emerged as the most noxious species, followed by Syzygium jambos. Hyparrhenia rufa performing at the present day fragments of grasslands in formerly pine forests with more than 20-years of overexploitation history. This invasive alien high grass emerged as a transformer species that becomes a threat to the pine forest and to the endemic and critically endangered species. The implementation of control actions is needed in the short time. S. jambos was affecting riparian forest, mostly at Tortuga River. Invasive alien plant spreed should be also monitored, emphasizing Oeceoclades maculata y Nephrolepis hirsutula which largest distributional range into Cajalbana. Water streams, opened areas and roads should be also under surveillance because they are main dispersal pathways into the area.
