A significant improvement in voiding ability was retained during this period, while hesitancy and a poor stream were the symptoms most often eradicated. However, a slow decrease in flow rate was observed during the first 5 years postoperatively in 37 patients who had undergone studies 4 months after the operation. If this trend were to continue flow rates would return to preoperative levels 24 to 30 years after prostatectomy. © 1982 by The American Urological Association Education and Research, Inc.FiguresReferencesRelatedDetailsCited ByTHOMAS A, CANNON A, BARTLETT E, ELLIS-JONES J and ABRAMS P (2018) THE NATURAL HISTORY OF LOWER URINARY TRACT DYSFUNCTION IN MEN: MINIMUM 10-YEAR URODYNAMIC FOLLOWUP OF TRANSURETHRAL RESECTION OF PROSTATE FOR BLADDER OUTLET OBSTRUCTIONJournal of Urology, VOL. 174, NO. 5, (1887-1891), Online publication date: 1-Nov-2005.ROBERTS R, JACOBSEN S, JACOBSON D, RHODES T, GIRMAN C and LIEBER M (2018) LONGITUDINAL CHANGES IN PEAK URINARY FLOW RATES IN A COMMUNITY BASED COHORTJournal of Urology, VOL. 163, NO. 1, (107-113), Online publication date: 1-Jan-2000.Nielsen K, Christensen M, Madsen P and Bruskewitz R (2018) Symptom Analysis and Uroflowmetry 7 Years After Transurethral Resection of the ProstateJournal of Urology, VOL. 142, NO. 5, (1251-1253), Online publication date: 1-Nov-1989.
