- W2416687688 abstract "Slow agricultural growth and the consequent widening of the gap between rural and urban incomes has become a major cause for concern. The stagnation in yield growth may be the result of the degradation of resource base. Resource conserving technologies (RCT`s) are those technologies, which require fewer amounts of resources or with same level of resources produce more or with same level of resources produce more output. Women in rural India form not only the majority of tillers and agricultural workers but play a major role in food production. In India, land ownership by women is not more than 2 % (Meera Velayudhan 2008). Rural Indian women are extensively involved in agricultural activities. The mode of female participation in agricultural production varies with the landowning status of farm households. Their roles range from managers to landless labourers. In all over farm production, women’s average contribution is estimated at 55% to 66% of the total labour with percentages, much higher in certain regions. Keeping above in view the study has been arranged in the following structural objectives. 1. To assess the adoption pattern of resource conservation technology in the study area. 2. To analyse the farmers perception on management of resource conservation technology in the study area. 3. To assess the impact of resource conservation technology on income and employment of land less labour with special reference to women. The study is done in Eastern Uttar Pradesh CSISA hub involving four districts namely, Kushinagar, Deoria, Mahrajganj and East Champaran. The primary data was collected by using a pre-tested questionnaire. The total samples of 200 farmers in the ratio of 3:2 with intervention and without intervention respectively were covered; apart from it 100 landless labourers were selected. The literacy rate of the large farmers in the WI category was highest with 20.04 followed by medium, small and marginal farmers. Highest percentage (39.27%) of marginal household head were educated upto high school where as in the WOI category 40% of marginal, 25% of small, 15.38% of medium and 28.6% of large household head were illiterates. majority of the farmers were facing difficulty with weed management (67%) followed by lack of skill for operation (21%), lack of machinery availability(8%), and others (input) respectively under WI category. About 83% of the WI category farmers agree that manual weeding is the best control measure where as 66.4% and 49.8% agree that advice from CSISA and neighbouring farmer will be a great help in weed management. With regard to the input purchase and availability the with intervention category farmers approach the grey market followed by CSISA, KVK and relatives in the order of 83%,41.6%,33.33% and 24.90%. There was loss of employment opportunity for men landless labour in the pre sowing, transplantation and Irrigation activities to the extent of 3.36, 22.40 and 4.4 man days because of technology intervention. In the WI category 66.66% agree that they approach the private dealer followed by their own approach and with technical assistance help where as in the WOI category 87.5% farmers agreed that they consult technical assistants and 75% approach private dealers to solve their machinery scarcity problem." @default.
