Although anticholinergic properties are claimed of both drugs, only oxybutynin hydrochloride proved to decrease detrusor contractility and the degree of reflux, probably due to a direct spasmolytic effect on the detrusor. Therefore, in cases of reflux and detrusor instability treatment with oxybutynin hydrochloride is recommended. © 1991 by The American Urological Association Education and Research, Inc.FiguresReferencesRelatedDetailsCited byLebowitz R (2018) The Detection and Characterization of Vesicoureteral Reflux in the ChildJournal of Urology, VOL. 148, NO. 5 Part 2, (1640-1642), Online publication date: 1-Nov-1992.
