- W2425093875 abstract "Pesticide is widely employed to control the harmful insects and reduce the damage tocrops. However, pesticide may have potential side effects to growing plants. In thisstudy, rice (Oryza sativa L.) was studied to determine whether the insecticide exposurehas acute effects on the metabolome of plants. Gas chromatography-mass spectrometrybased metabolic profiling technique is used to collect metabolic information. The cultivar Minghui86 was cultivated in field and treated with commercially usedpesticides to simulate the field practice protocol, while the untreated rice (control) wasplanted in the adjacent region. Leaves were collected at six different time points beforeor after pesticide treatment (on Day 0.5, 1, 2, 4 and 7 post-treatment) in order toevaluate the metabolic time response to pesticide stress. And in considering of thegrowth induced-metabolic changes, the treated and untreated plants from the samesampling time were compared.Principal component analysis (PCA) was carried out to investigate the metabolicchanging tendency and grouping. The trajectory based on the PCA scores revealed thetemporal changes of the rice metabolome. The metabolic response following thegrowth was observed in untreated samples during the sampling period. To discriminatethe pesticide effects from the growth effects, the relative variation between treated andcontrol groups was measured. All metabolites were subjected to QT-cluster analysis(according to the Pearson correlation coefficients) to recognize the temporal patterns inrelation to the pesticide treatment. The treated and untreated rice displayed different metabolic patterns over the samplingperiod, which implied that some metabolites may be affected under the pesticide stress.Compared to the control, the treated rice leaves collected on day 2 after the pesticidespray showed greatly distinct metabolite profiles, especially. As for the cultivarMinghui86, there were still significant metabolite differences between the treated anduntreated groups after 7 days. It can be assumed that it will take more than 7 days torecover from the pesticide effects and returned to the level of untreated plants." @default.
