- W24284966 abstract "Educational Administration is a discipline and, such as for all disciplines, one of its purposes is that of approaching Schooling institutions ideally are all about the pursuit of truth. But is not always recognized as that when found. In this article authors claim that we know basic facts about Educational Administration in liberal democratic societies. Truth is in our conscience. The reality is that educational administration is rooted in Judaeo-Christian religion just as is much of society. The conscience of educational administrators reflects a Judaeo-Christian belief system. This then would suggest that educational administrator who practices principles of this belief system will be congruent with society. However, many in discipline - both educational practitioners and theorists - appear not to accept this idea. Acknowledging arguments against notion of absolute truth and problems in interpreting and promoting religion, authors develop stance that educational administrator whose system of beliefs and values are derived from Judaeo-Christian faith is one who will be most effective. He would act with appropriate mix of conscience, logic, and will-power. The writings of such individuals as Barnard, Neuhaus, W. Walker, and Frye are drawn upon for support. The piece concludes with a statement on importance of leadership in education and some suggestions for future development of both educational administration theory and practice. In main this article addresses a theme which many scholars would just as soon pretend does not exist. Reality tells us otherwise. RESUME L'administration scolaire constitue une discipline, et a l'instar de toutes les disciplines, l'un de ses objectifs est la quete de la verite. Les etablissements d'enseignement visent tous, idealement parlant, a la poursuite de la verite. Mais la verite n'est pas toujours percue comme telle lorsqu'on la decouvre. Dans cet article, les auteurs affirment que nous connaissons les elements de base de l'administration scolaire dans les democraties liberales. La verite reside dans notre conscience. La realite est que l'administration scolaire est enracinee dans la religion judeo-chretienne au meme titre qu'une bonne partie des elements de la societe. La conscience des administrateurs scolaires reflete un systeme de croyances judeo-chretiennes. L'on pourrait en conclure que l'administrateur scolaire qui observe les principes de ce systeme de croyances est d'accord avec la societe. Toutefois, un grand nombre des membres de cette discipline, a la fois des educateurs et des theoriciens, semblent refuter cette idee. Reconnaissant les arguments qui contrent la notion de verite absolue et les problemes que posent l'interpretation et la promotion de la religion, les auteurs soutiennent que l'administrateur scolaire dont le systeme de croyances et de valeurs est tire de la foi judeo-chretienne est celui que reussira le mieux dans son metier. Il agit en effet avec le dosage de conscience, de logique et de volonte voulu. Les auteurs s'appuient sur les ecrits de Barnard, Neuhaus, W. Walker et Frye pour etayer leur argumentation. L'article se termine par une declaration sur l'importance du leadership en education et par certaines suggestions sur l'evolution future de la theorie et de la pratique de l'administration scolaire. Dans l'ensemble, cet article aborde un theme dont bien des universitaires aimeraient autant ignorer l'existence. Mais la realite nous affirme le contraire." @default.
