In der gangigen Praxis der Qualitatskontrolle sind Verbesserungen erforderlich, z. B. in der Stichprobengrose und der Auswertung der Freilandversuche. Nachdem diese Qualitatskontrollen seit Ende der 1980er durch die Biologische Bundesanstalt fur Land- und Forstwirtschaft (BBA), Institut fur biologischen Pflanzenschutz und von amtlichen Pflanzenschutzdiensten durchgefuhrt wurden, gibt es zunehmend personelle Probleme bei der Durchfuhrung der Versuche. Die Streichung von festen Stellen bei der BBA und die Einschrankung der Freilandtatigkeiten von Mitarbeitern der Pflanzenschutzdienste und der Landratsamter erschweren eine Weiterfuhrung der Qualitatskontrolle bei Trichogramma brassicae . Um diese vorbildliche wissenschaftliche Begleitung eines biologischen Pflanzenschutzverfahrens auch in Zukunft zu gewahrleisten, mussen vor allem von behordlicher Seite neue Perspektiven aufgezeigt werden. Inzwischen wird die Bekampfung des Maiszunsler Ostrinia nubilalis mit Trichogramma brassicae seit uber 25 Jahren in Deutschland durchgefuhrt wird. Parameters are a) quantity measures: number of parasitized eggs on the release units, emergence rate and sex ratio and b) quality measures: rate of parasitism with eggs of Sitotroga cerealella and Ostrinia nubilalis , longevity and emergence period. Field trials are being made to compare the efficacy of the Trichogramma products that are being offered in Germany by different suppliers. The current practise needs improvement, e.g. in the sampling rate and in the assessment of the field trials. Since the start of this quality control at the end of the 1980ies by the Federal Research Centre for Agriculture and Forestry (BBA), Institute for Biological Control and official advisory services there are growing problems with staff available to fulfil this important annual research task. The reduction of the number of full staff members in federal institutes and restrictions in the field work controlled by the staff of advisory services will make it difficult to continue with the current quality control of Trichogramma brassicae . To guarantee this exemplary scientific guidance of a biological control method in future new perspectives given by federal institutions are urgently needed.
