- W2468153895 abstract "Parodic laughter : between Freud and Bergson. Theatrical parody, a genre which defined its forms in the 18th Century, occupies a place in the theatrical landscape. Its almost instantaneous composition, sometimes in complicity with the object of attack, means that it is as much advertisement (albeit buffoon-like) as criticism. It familiarizes audiences with the noble genres, brings out the criteria of well-crafted theatre and teaches the spectator to be inside/outside. The parodies by Parisau, La Veuve de Cancale, Richard, Le Roi Lu, are here studied as examples of this procedure, through themes, language and direct or indirect ways of addressing the public. Is parodie laughter made of exclusion and condemnation or of almost affectionate familiarity which undermines the authority of great literature ? Parisau seems closer to Freud than to Bergson." @default.
