- W2468771567 abstract "Interior permanent magnet (IPM) brushless machines with non-sinusoidal back-EMF offer advantages of higher torque density and cost effectiveness, compared to the sinusoidal PM brushless machines. However, these machines suffer from higher torque ripple when being fed by most applied sinusoidal or square-wave currents. This problem can be solved by optimizing the current waveforms. Based on instantaneous power theory, a novel offline method to generate the optimal current references for non-sinusoidal IPM brushless machines is proposed. When the optimal currents are injected to the IPM machines, the torque ripple will be minimized. Meanwhile, the maximum torque per ampere control can be fulfilled and energy efficiency will be enhanced. A closed form solution for the optimal current references is deduced on the basis of mathematically modeling and instantaneous power analysis of the IPM machines. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed method is validated through finite element simulation of a non-sinusoidal IPM brushless machine prototype." @default.
