- W2480950418 abstract "Historically, several methods have been developed for the identification of nonlinear systems. Volterra's method and Wiener's method are general solutions to the problem. Ivakhnenko's Group Method of Data Handling produces a static model of a general multiple-input, single-output nonlinear system, but often cannot generate an accurate model for a given system. Kautz' technique for synthesis of transient signals makes possible an elegant dynamic model for a class of nonlinear systems, specifically, those with a single input and a single output which generate an output in the set of square-integrable functions, $Lsb2$, when the input is in the set $Lsb2$, and where the output depends continuously on the input and the initial state. It is assumed that the system is ground stable and starts out in the ground state.The specific technique used is to transform the input signal into a finite series of Fourier coefficients of its orthogonal expansion, map these coefficients to the Fourier coefficients of the output, and generate the output signal from its coefficients. The mapping from input coefficients to output coefficients is learned from sample inputs and the associated outputs of the real system. After learning, generation of output coefficients is performed by finding input coefficients near those of the current input, and interpolating to find the output coefficients. Several different interpolation techniques are investigated.Software has been developed which has proven the concept viable for several different nonlinear systems. Experiments indicate that reasonably accurate outputs can be obtained with a small number of input coefficients and a small number of output coefficients, provided the input and output time constants are chosen appropriately for the input signal and its system response." @default.
