It presents a cosmopolitan argument showing that there is a global basic structure relevantly similar to the domestic ones, and that the same reasons Rawls gives for the application of principles of justice within basic structures hold for the global domain too. Next, the chapter evaluates objections to the global extension of the Rawlsian principles of justice that assume the validity of Rawlsian principles in the domestic case. These objections attempt to show that there are relevant differences between the global domain and domestic societies which preclude the global application of Rawlsian principles of justice. These objections regard interactions at the domestic and global domains as either different in degree or different in kind. The chapter argues that these objections do not warrant limiting the scope of Rawlsian principles of justice to domestic political institutions." @default.
