- W2482846771 abstract "Defining the perception of values in early modern Latin drama is in itself not unproblematic and can also be complicated by the interfering perception of values and moral standards of the modern researcher. This chapter begins with a case study, i.e. that of Jacobus Cornelius Lummenaeus a Marca's Carcer Babylonius , which treats the siege of Jerusalem and the capture and blinding of the Jewish king Zedekiah. It attempts to create a solid base for contextual research by establishing as accurately as possible some of the valuations offered in the play, while taking into account the potential effectiveness of the methods. The chapter then attempts to carry this case study one step further, to see if anything can be gained by combining the results with a contextual approach. Keywords: Carcer Babylonius ; Jacobus Cornelius Lummenaeus a Marca; Jerusalem; modern Latin drama; Zedekiah" @default.
