A study into changes in the governance of alliances has found that, among the 145 alliances analyzed, 44% underwent changes in the governance structure. It is highlighted that some alliance types are more susceptible to change than others. For alliances with a broader scope, a less clear division of labour, higher relevance for the partners, and a significant opportunity to broaden its scope, the chances increase that they will undergo one or more redesigns during their lifespan.
