- W2484156691 abstract "The envelope of a polyhedron can be formed by the rotation of polygons. This rotation takes place along circular routes around the X- and Y-axis of the co-ordinate system, but not before the polygonal face has been translated over a certain distance along the Z-axis. In some cases an initial rotation around the Z-axis is also necessary. This procedure has been described by the author on a few previous occasions. He developed the computer programme CORDIN (formerly called CORELLI). Thus formed polyhedra can in their turn be put together in spatial arrangements and for that purpose a number of options are available. In stead of flat polygonal faces, objects of any kind can be shifted in space or rotated. If this is done in the same way as the faces in a polyhedron, a second generation of polyhedra is formed, which takes the place of the polygonal faces of the first. This can be done repeatedly. Thus, different levels of polyhedra are obtained that are nested. If arbitrary figures or polyhedron related figures, such as prisms, spheres or ellipsoids, are rotated in space, interesting configurations can be obtained. This can be used for the formation and for the realistic presentation of spatial structures, where polyhedron related elements are used on different levels: macroform or overall shape, microform or internal structure, space frames, nodes and struts. Some examples are shown in this paper.
