- W2484390884 abstract "The genus Paspalum L. belongs to the tribe Paniceae of the subfamily Panicoideae and consists of approximately 400 species. Dallisgrass and bahiagrass are the most economically important and widely used for livestock production. Essentially all Paspalum species are native to the Americas, especially the tropical, subtropical, and warm temperate regions. Dallisgrass grows on a relative wide range of soil types, but it is usually found on loam and clay soils that are poorly drained. There are a number of other Paspalum species that are important forage and turf grasses. Brownseed paspalum is highly adaptable and grows well on relatively poor soils ranging from poorly drained clay soils to well-drained deep sandy soils. Brunswickgrass is best adapted to sandy clay loam soils but also grows on sands, loams, silts, and clays. Atra Paspalum grass grows on wet, seasonally waterlogged, infertile, acid soils in the tropics and subtropics." @default.
