- W2488005235 abstract "Abstract There are four main theories concerning the origin of Genesis‐2 Kings. Building on these, this chapter proposes that – apart from initial outlining and some possible final editing – Genesis‐2 Kings was composed in three coordinated stages: (1) Beginning with Genesis, the outline was developed into a narrative that ran from creation to the fall of Jerusalem, each part building on what preceded. (2) The Elijah‐Elisha narrative, synthesizing and reinterpreting that narrative, was placed shortly before the narrative's conclusion. (3) Mosaic law was inserted last, reflecting the entire narrative. The unified process may have involved several people. The text was written to be evocative, numinous, and cryptic." @default.
