Is it possible to find a set of universal values that could be applied to any culture or period? These are metaphysical questions that have been asked by many scholars and philosophers in history. The search for answers to these questions reveals even more profound dichotomies in the Western view of the universe. We live in a constantly changing world. At the brink in the third millennium, our perceived national boundaries are becoming less apparent as a new “global” concept of the planet on which we live takes their place. In this world, one might ask how universal values could be found among all cultures. We are all members of the same species, after all.
