- W2492186370 abstract "This chapter presents that Japan is a forerunner in high function fiber development, although in terms of total output of synthetic fiber, Japan is ranked only fifth in the world. The main direction in the high function fiber development is to utilize biomimetics—namely, mimicking the high-order structure of natural fibers such as cotton, wool, and silk. Efforts have been focused on enriching human life by pursuing high function, aesthetic appreciation, and human sensitivity. Such fiber is being applied not only to clothing, but also to industrial applications. The chapter presents a summary and classification of the expected developments for high function fibers and associate textiles. It also discusses the present status of high functional fibers." @default.
