- W2494468478 abstract "Abstract The last composition in the Vārān Bhai Gurdas was written by ‘Gurdas’, who refers to his work as Vār Bhagautī. The Vār has also been associated with Guru Gobind Singh. Some manuscripts contain a dohrā at the end that mentions ‘Gurdas Singh’ as the author of this Vār. The composition views the ‘Hindus’ and ‘Turks’ as purveyors of empty ritual practices and deceptive knowledge. The author also shows a clear disdain for the Vedas, Shāstras, Purānas, and Qur’ān. He also rejects the call of prayer (azān), the prayer (salāt), the circumcision (sunnat), and the worship of pirs centred around their tombs (dargahs). The author prays for the destruction of both these panths. The Vār Bhagautī talks about the sovereignty of the Khalsa Panth and liberation for individuals. It focuses on three major themes, namely, God, the Gurus, and the Sangat or the Panth." @default.
