- W2495406057 abstract "It is envisaged that there will be heterogeneous deployment of ultra-dense femtocells overlaying the existing macrocells in an ad-hoc manner to provide enhanced coverage and capacity for the indoor users in the fifth generation (5G) wireless networks. However, this will lead to serious interference between macrocells and femtocells (cross-tier interference) and interference between neighbouring femtocells (co-tier interference), which can adversely affect the performance of the overall network. Hence, radio resource management (RRM) must be done in an intelligent way to mitigate both cross-tier and co-tier interference. Most of the existing RRM algorithms in the literature do not effectively address these problems. Moreover, most of these algorithms are not scalable and therefore not efficient for networks with massive deployment of femtocells. Motivated by these shortcomings, in this paper, we present a self-organizing radio resource allocation algorithm (SORRAA) for resource allocation and interference management based on cognitive radio (CR) technology and stochastic process (SP). The resource allocation problem is formulated as a multi-objective optimization problem and the performance of the proposed algorithm is evaluated using MATLAB. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm improves the overall throughput and reduces interference when compared with other state-of-the-art algorithms." @default.
