A method for identifying the joint kinematic parameters which are the necessary elements in constructing the robot kinematic model is described. The implementation of this technique, however, requires the cartesian position of the end-effector at various joint configurations. For this purpose a prototype automatic 3D laser interferometer tracking and measuring system was designed and developed. The computer aided robot calibration package is the software which runs the measuring device, acquire the data, and identifies the parameters whereby it can be updated in the software model of the robot controller." @default.
