- W2500699573 abstract "The anions M(OTeF{sub 5}){sub 6}{sup n{minus}}, where M = Sb(V), Nb(V), and Ta(V) (n = 1) or Ti(IV) (n = 2) have been investigated for their utility as weakly coordinating anions. The are less coordinating, more stable in the presence of electrophilic cations, and more solubilizing than other anions with which the authors have worked, including B(OTeF{sub 5}){sub 4}{sup {minus}}. Isotope exchange experiments showed no fragmentation of these large anions in the presence of strong electrophiles such as H{sup +} and Ag{sup +}. Metal salts of these anions are very soluble in low-dielectric, weakly coordinating solvents such as CH{sub 2}Cl{sub 2} and 1,1,1-C{sub 2}Cl{sub 3}F{sub 3} (e.g., 0.4 M in the latter solvent for AgNb(OTeF{sub 5}){sub 6} at 22{degrees}C). Attempts to prepare and characterize reactive cations using these anions will be discussed, as well as recent structural data." @default.
