- W2500927902 abstract "This chapter discusses the relative sensitivities of different cell types; cells in different stages of the cell cycle; and cells in different replicative states. These studies emphasize the importance of expressing comparative sensitivities in terms of the extent of Pt bound to the DNA rather than in terms of the concentration of the agent to which cells are exposed. Platinum is lost from the DNA of cells treated with cis-Pt II and that in some instances, the cellular sensitivity is directly related to excision repair capacity. The cytotoxic properties of the antitumor neutral platinum coordination complexes are related to their ability to bind to DNA and to modify this as a template for normal DNA replication. The sensitivity of a cell to cis-platinum (II) diamminedichloride (cis-Pt II)-induced DNA damage depends on whether there exists within a cell means of either removing lesions on the DNA prior to DNA replication or circumventing them during DNA replication." @default.
