- W2501766222 abstract "This paper analyses instances of the use of languaging in a corpus ofGalician poetry translated into English in the twentieth and twenty-jirstcenturies. The use of languaging is investigated as a transversal termapplied to Linguistics (Lado 1979; and Jorgensen and Juffermans 2001),as well as philosophy (Maturana 1978; Bourdieu 1991), and applied topoetry translation as a praxis of ecolinguistics and ecocriticism asproposed by Cortese and Hymes (2001) regarding the way in which aminorised culture aims at having a voice for its own identity both in alocal and a global context. As is well known, the official language in the whole territory of Spainis Spanish. However, in some autonomous territories there are other coofficiallanguages such as Basque, Catalan, and Galician which, asminorised languages, do not share with Spanish the same degree ofrespectability and percentage of speakers even in their own territories. After the banning of these languages under Francoism (1939-1975), theseHispanic co-offiCial languages have undergone permanent processes ofnormalisation in education and a parallel standardisation of theirrespective literatures.Within the process of constructing a complete cultural milieu in theGalician language, a dialogue with other foreign cultures has beenespecially promoted, particularly with Irish literature, as there are traditional historical connections among the various Celtic countries in the Atlantic Land's Ends. The main corpus for analysis here will be Galician poetry texts translated into English from 1990." @default.
