- W2504337246 abstract "How we interact with computers is undergoing a radical shift. The last several years have seen the introduction of a mind-boggling array of user interfaces on mobile devices, games, tabletops, and walls. Yet the majority of the business world toils with keyboard-driven and unexciting interfaces. Many of those interfaces may be retired as scanners replace user input. Many may be moved to alternative voice, haptic, and other types of interfaces. Finally, even those that stay with the keyboard/mouse form/factor can have far more pleasing Flash and other interfaces. As consumer and work generational differences become more pronounced, organizations will need to leverage an even wider range of interfaces. QWERTY may continue to live on, but polymath enterprises will do their best to trivialize its role as they design interfaces for various technology applications. This chapter highlights the numerable ways in which progress is being made around tired old QWERTY." @default.
