Several centrifugal applications are static with respect to water flow, in particular for water retention and related measurements. Centrifugal force is advantageous for hydraulic property measurement in several ways. The chapter describes the steady-state centrifuge apparatus and procedures, and explains particular features of centrifugal force in the measurement of saturated and unsaturated K. It also explains the feasibility of obtaining a range of K values by using a single crust and manipulating the height of the zero-pressure level in the Mariotte device of the infiltrometer. Wind method is utilized to obtain the soil water characteristic and K function for the same sample. The long column steady flow procedure provides uniform soil water suctions and uniform water contents in a vertical column of homogeneous soil." @default.
