Se presenta con mas frecuencia en las mujeres de mediana edad con desequilibrios hormonales. Es una entidad dificil de tratar. El uso de Laser Nd YAG modo Q-switched bajo la modalidad laser toning es en la actualidad una opcion terapeutica. El objetivo es evaluar la eficacia del Laser Nd:YAG 1064nm en modo Qswitched en el tratamiento del melasma. Se estudiaron 165 pacientes femeninas entre 34 y 56 anos de edad (media: 45 anos) con diagnostico clinico de melasma. Se utilizo Laser Nd YAG 1064 nm ( Spectra VRM Laser Lutronic s) en modo Q-switched (fluencias bajas 1-2 J/cm2 spot 8mm frecuencia 10 Hz, pases multiples). Se realizaron ocho sesiones a razon de una semanal. Antes y luego del tratamiento se efectuo un registro fotografico con el sistema VISIA (Complexion Analysis Canfield Cientifico ) y se obtuvo un analisis cuantitativo por el sistema, de las imagenes del rostro (frontal y laterales). Despues de un promedio de 6± 2 sesiones, el tono de la piel del grupo de pacientes mostro una mejoria significativa (p<0.005) en comparacion con los valores obtenidos antes del tratamiento y cualitativamente se observo una mejoria en la textura de la piel. Todas las pacientes expresaron satisfaccion con el tratamiento. El uso del modo Q-Switched del 1064 nm Nd: YAG laser fue efectivo en el tratamiento del melasma debido a que mejoro ademas la apariencia y calidad de la piel de las pacientes. Treatment of Venezuelan female patients suffering of melasma using the Q-switched 1064 Nd: YAG laser mode Abstract Melasma is a pigmentary disorder characterized by dark-brown macules on cheeks, nasal dorsum, forehead and upper lip. It occurs most often in middle-aged women with hormonal imbalances. It is a difficult entity to treat. Q-switched Nd: YAG laser, under the mode laser toning, is currently a therapeutic option. The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of Q-switched Nd: YAG 1064nm laser in the treatment of melasma. We studied 165 female patients between 34 and 56 years of age (mean 45 years old) with clinical diagnosis of melasma. Nd: YAG 1064 nm laser (Spectra Laser Lutronics VRM) was used in Q-switched mode (low fluences 1-2 J / cm2 8mm spot frequency 10Hz, multiple passes). Eight sessions were conducted at the rate of one per week. Before and after treatment a photographic record was made using Visia Complexion Analysis System (Canfield Scientific, Parsippany-Troy Hills, NJ 07054, USA) to obtain a quantitative analysis of frontal and lateral images of the face. After an average of 6 ± 2 sessions, the tone of the skin for the group of patients showed a significant improvement (p <0.005) compared with the values obtained before treatment; and a qualitative improvement was also observed in skin texture. All patients expressed satisfaction with the treatment. The use of Q-switched Nd: YAG 1064nm laser was effective in the treatment of melasma also improving the appearance and quality of the skin in these patients." @default.
