The original PLAY Technology location in Vinington was a true success story, in terms of an illegal enterprise. It had generated more than thirty seven fabricated Section 8 housing claims, eighteen fraudulent student loan applications and eleven false federal and state income tax refund filings, resulting in government payments of more than $811,000 to fictitious parties. Entering its third year, the illicit activities of PLAY Technology increased substantially. As the frequency of the scams increased, the number of consumer complaints of fraudulent charges for electronics on their credit card statements and new of lines of credit that they had not applied for rose. After nearly a year of surveillance operations, financial link analysis, confidential informant monitoring and victim queries the approval was received to execute search, seizure and arrest warrants for Nakafe, Aglean and rest of their associates. The lesson learned from this chapter is some businesses exist purely for engaging in fraud and other white-collar crimes, and one must be aware of them." @default.
