- W251018364 abstract "Neuropsychological rehabilitation is an ongoing process and should be formulated for each individual based on the deficits seen in various domains. The approach of rehabilitation should be holistic and intensive. A mediated learning process comprising mediation of meaning, motivation, regulation of behavior, sharing of behavior, and differentiation of self forms the bedrock of a holistic cognitive program. Often, a multidisciplinary approach comprising neurologists, physiatrists, neuropsychologists, and speech and occupational therapists is involved in various aspects of rehabilitation. Neuropsychologists are intimately involved in helping the patient and family deal with the trauma, assessing and enhancing cognitive functions, and providing a blueprint for individual’s gainful employment and engagement in society. Various factors such as severity of the injury, age of onset, cognitive functions, premorbid personality, and availability of social support determine the extent to which a patient could be successfully reintegrated into the society." @default.
